Project Beginnings
Andrew Greenberg, owner of NYCTEMPS, Inc., a ten-year-old temporary staffing and permanent placement company, wanted to do something to give back to the temporary employees who helped make his business a success. Given that 80 percent of his staff pursued careers in the performing arts, Andrew and one of his internal staff members, Greer Goldstein, came up with the idea of a performing arts newsletter. They placed an ad in the Silicon Alley Reporter for a writer/editor/publisher of a performing arts newsletter. Having worked at arts and culture publications prior to making the leap into the electronics industry, I had an inclination to return to arts publishing. Having participated in the construction of a major news portal, I also had the itch to play a bigger role in building something substantial of my own.
