Home / Design My Design Work Since my sophmore year in college, when I discovered the Mac Lab and its rows of Apple Macintosh computers loaded with the leading graphics programs of that day, I have worked to express ideas not only through words but through designs as well. In the years since, I've designed everything from email newsletters (text- and HTML-based) and Web sites to company logos, postcards and promotional materials. I like that you needed to be creative, attentive to detail, and a problem solver to bring ideas to life. It's always a challenge to attract attention and stimulate retention with an image and a few brief words, but one that I always enjoy. In this section of my site, I've organized samples of my work into four categories: email newsletters, graphics, logos and promotional materials. Please take a look. If you like what you see, consider me for your next project or need.
Email Newsletters Forget cell phones and web pages, email newsletters are the delivery method of modern communication. How else can consumers already tapped by the demands of their work keep informed on their interests, which can be varied as Aikido, tap dance, wordsmithing and today's news headlines? Email newsletters deliver need to know information in clean, convenient formats that make staying informed much easier, redeeming a form of communication threatened by junk mail. Graphics Just as diamonds are considered a "girl's" best friend, likewise, icons are a Web site's best friend. They dress up a site, contributing greatly to its look and feel by establishing its mood, attitude and overall visual appear. It's a big job for such a small image to pull off, but the payoff is a professional touch that makes readers feel at home. Check out my graphic work, click here.
Logos Logos are prizefighters. They must float like butterflies and sting like bees. They need to be fit and trim. They must project confidence. They need to be trained to perfection on a message that will resonate with all clients and colleagues. And they must do this all within the span of an inch or two. Crafting logos is reminiscent of the paper folding game that teachers use to confound kids. In it, you fold a piece of flimsy notebook paper in half repeatedly, until you cannot fold it any longer. The first few folds come with easy. After the fifth or so fold, the task becomes exponentially harder, until you cannot make the paper budge. In logo design, it's at this point that you must find a way to fold the paper twice more. Check out my logo work, click here.
Flyers/Postcards In the movies, if you build it, they will come. In reality, events can be planned to perfection and businesses built for success...tree falls in forest. To see more of my flyers and postcards, click here.
