DESCRIPTION:
First rehearsal date is March 12, 2001. First performance date: March 26 -
April 6. All dates subject to change. Seeking African-American, Hispanic,
Native-American performers for the following roles.
Ferdinand: Tenor - (C to Bb). Immediately likeable, he is a gentle soul
with an optimistic spirit. He wants others to like him, and he wants to
belong.
The Bull Collector: Baritone/Tenor - (A to G). A country peasant kind of
wheeler dealer in the land of bullmanship. He sells, he buys, he trades,
he lies. Fluent in both English and Bull.
Abeja the Bee: High Belt Voice (strong A below middle C to an octave above
middle C) She is Ferdinand's one true friend, and like Ferdinand, she is
considered an outcast who loves flowers. She is lovable, and is willing to
stand up to the local bullies. Also plays The Matador, a proud, posturing,
arrogant, opera-diva kind of bull fighter.
There are also three high energy members of Los Toros Tres, a gang of
bulls out on the pasture (the gang is across between The Sharks and The
Jets, and the fraternity misfits of "Animal House"). Please also note
these people will also play three fashionable Matador-adoring senoras of
Madrid:
Alejandro: Tenor - (C to an A). A "tough" gang leader, although he is soft
on the inside.
Ortega: Low Belt, Tenor-y Woman's Voice - (preferably D below middle C to
A above middle C). The second-in-command, she blindly follows and wants to
be lead.
Moe: Bass/Baritone - (F to F). Loyal, but stupid.
