Home / Dance Put Some Hoof into Your Hop What do you get when you mix the movements and partnership of Lindy Hop with the syncopations of Rhythm Tap? We like to call it LindyHoofin’. What Makes LindyHoofin' Special What makes LindyHoofin' so special is that we not only dance to the music, we also play with the band. As Lindy Hop dancers, we have always enjoyed expressing what we hear in the music as we dance. When you, the music and the band get in the groove, it is pure magic. As LindyHoofers, we can take that a step further by playing with the band. We can both express in lindy what the band is playing and participate as hoofers in the creation of the music through our feet. That's when it gets really fun, because we're transforming that "four on the floor" into eight, so to speak. Frequently Asked Questions, Answered Tap shoes are not required (though they help); only good dance shoes, an interest in musicality and a willingness to syncopate are musts. LindyHoofin' is completely leadable with syncopated swing out variations, time steps, syncopated cuddles, hoofer charlestons and call & responses all seamlessly woven into the fabric of the dance. Where Can I Learn? We teach privately and through workshops. We also choreograph LindyHoofin' routines for couples and groups. However, we no longer teach weekly group classes in LindyHoofin' in New York City. After two years of regular group classes, first at Sandra Cameron Dance Center and then at Fazil's, we decided to take a break from classes in 2003. That may change in '04. Stay tuned.
